Beyond

I don't know
Nobody knows how to live. It took me my entire youth and part of my adult life to realize this. Adults aren't really adults; they are busy children, some more than others. I never quite knew what I wanted to be when I grew up, and my whole life has been about observing and reacting.
I have been a composer; tomorrow, I don't know.
Building a cello

For the past decade I've been building a cello from scratch. The idea came to me because I've always loved building things since I was a child. I thought building an instrument would be perfect. I ordered a plan from a London company online, a replica of a Stradivarius, which had very precise dimensions in millimeters. I sought advice from some renowned luthiers in Portugal. It was a very challenging process.
In October 2025, I finally finished my Cello.
In my search for materials, particularly the woods, it was with some sadness that I spoke with various Portuguese carpenters and realized the vulnerability of their businesses as a new industrial era takes hold in Portugal. I was fortunate that upon explaining my project, I was offered two large boards, which now form the plates after being carved. I searched for workshops around Portugal because I lacked materials like Chisels and Planes, which are rarely used nowadays as the furniture and luthier industries have partially vanished. I eventually found a workshop owned by a friend's father who offered to lend me the tools. I worked there most of the time but also at home, making a mess with the enormous understanding of my wife, Sara that helped me so much! Recently, I had the chance to try it, and to my surprise, it sounds like a cello!
Electronics
To compose is to create a reality that doesn't yet exist, so I guess we need to be curious and explore the world around us in its wide and varied dimensions. This might explain my interest in electronics. It's a chapter in which I still have much to learn, but I am fascinated by both the complexity of what we can achieve and the simplicity of the elements that make up these systems. It's like playing with Legos with an invisible force! Combined with my love for electronic music, I have fun exploring the construction of synthesizers! I quickly realized that my workshop is like my music studio, and the tools are the instruments that, together with the materials, allow me to bring my imagination to life!
